This is really well done and very ambitious.
I think I have all the upgrades at this point. 2 suits and and the auron beam.
Somewhere late game things started to break and it happened after one of the teleport doors in Veporia (I think). The map disappeared on me and none of my previously visited rooms showed up, even when re-finding the map. The really weird part was elevators that previously went other place, all went to Veporia.
Will continue following...and great stuff so far :)
Thank you very much for your comment!
Wow those are the weirdest and most difficult bugs I’ve had so far, mainly because I haven’t been able to replicate them easily…
My hunch is that after a long time (or after dying multiple times), some states or elements are not rebooted, but again, I have only seen that type of thing like once. I’ll be working on a solution for this on next versions. Again, thank you very much for your support.
By the way… did you die, and if so, did you “continue” multiple times after that?
One thing I did note, taking the elevator up from HY goes to WBL. Taking it down again goes to WK. And going down this happens:
That may have been the start of the weirdness.
There were a few other places that happened. Whenever I change locations the map resets as if I did not have it and had not been there..although sometimes it retains some of it.
I definitely did die and continue several times. I also occasionally had to refresh the browser because changing and coming back to the browser tab, the character would disappear. A refresh and loading a save would fix the missing character.
I am playing the browser version.
Hopefully that will help :)
Here's what my map looks like when returning back to Cheanormun from Veparia. I went down from the far right of the map and through Environs, etc, to come back up on the left side.
And after visiting the map room you can see I have apparently not been anywhere:
I also now have 9 health upgrades. Not sure if that was intended.
Great! Having the names and screenshots helps a lot, thanks!
Hmmm no, 9 health upgrades was definitely not intended. I have to adjust a couple of items locations and how many of them I really want. Thanks for pointing all of these issues.
I think the web version after a while has some unexpected behaviors… I’ll look into those
I think I may have been able to pick up a health upgrade twice after the map did its weird thing...like I went back to a room (because my map was not working) and the upgrade was there again.
can you please post a downloadable windows version?
Hi! sorry for the late response!
I was just uploading a Windows version of the game and it took a couple of tweaks here and there.
Please let me know if you get to try it, and if something comes up. Thanks!
amazing - thank you!
ok well I reallllly enjoyed what I played so far. I got completely stuck in Cheanorum though, the only exits are blue doors and a red door and I can’t find the keycard or ability to pass them.
Only other feedback - please let save rooms restore health and missiles and increase the percentage chance enemies drop missiles. A couple times I had to just farm for missiles because half the enemies (that you can’t maneuver around) only take missile damage - and then half the doors took missiles which drops very rarely.
Hmm you’re right about the drops. I will be improving that system… it could be higher the ammo drop rate.
I thought about doing a recharge also when saving, but that could make the “recharge rooms” kind of useless jaja Ill give it a thought though. Also, I recently added a new enemy that has a purpose to be farmed.
Did you get Cheanorum’s map? There’s an elevator indicated in the lower part. No key/upgrade is needed to get there. Let me know what you find.
Thank you very much for your feedback!
yep I got the map and took the elevator down to the new area, but there all I found is a save room and then the red and blue doors which I can’t pass. Another hint please?
Similar thing of what you had to do in Cheanorum.
I’m planning on making better room desingn, BUT it is going to be a huge task jaja that update can take some time
Oh and wanna know some funny bug (that you likely wont encounter):
In chaenorum, in the middle of the map is a ladder.
on the tile where the down arrow is, look 3 tile left.
there is a room with an upgrade there.
in said room, you can walk to the right wall, jump and it will ledge grab despite above being the ceiling.
well I tried to climb up.
first try, it reset me to the same room, as if I jsut entered it.
second time though, i DID climb over the right side wall (there seems to be no colloision detection with ceilings if you are climbing up)
and went right.
falling straight into the void.
visually, you still see the room, just no character cause he is in the walls.
but looking at the map, I was falling indefinitely down room after room.
nothing game breaking, just funny and might be good to fix :-)
oh and while I'm on it:
PLEASE make it so dead enemies cant shoot anymore!
like, I shoot an enemy, I see the explosion or the enemy is already gone for a halfsecond.
so I walk closer , cause time is money.
and a random laser appears.
like, the enemy is dead, even if it tchnically might still be in it's death animation or something.
please disable it from shooting in that state.
since right now, I mostly shoot stuff from offscreen, so that by the time I get there, there are dead for sure and wont shoot anymore.
mildly annoying at times, if possible remove it :-)
and refering to the "bug" again:
top right of cheanorum same thing, just that the wall in that room is on the right.
seems like you simply forgot to add ceiling collision/no-climbing-property to some walls in those rooms :-)
These are great findings. I think I see what you meant, it is what you mentiened, I forgot to make a better platform collision there
Also noted that behavior on enemies… I’ll upload a fix for those in the next version. Also, I might be also adding a new type of enemy.
Thanks for your support!
not sure of intended:
in zesdrum, below the left ladder is a vertical room. going through the bottom left exit doesnt bring you to the room right next to it.
but you end up where you would go if you took the top left exit.
not sur if you wrongly linked the rooms there.
or if it's some unfinished stuff and you did this on purpose
okay, guess it's intended since veporia has such a "teleport door" in the bottom right of the map too :-)
change that:
2 teleport doors in veporia.
Also feel kind of stuck.
since I more or less explored everything.
and all remaining things need me to be either water tight and/or having double jump.
I tried, damage boosting doesnt help there, even though I expected it to.
Yes! these rooms are set up that way because there is still a missing chunk of the map for those two areas.
Did you try to do a “wall jump” on any of those places? I don’t think such thing is needed though.
I’d say the last major item you could get in the current release, would be the “Auron Beam”.
Was that the "charged shot"?
If so, I got it already :-)
Didn’t see this comment, sorry!
No, the Auron beam is green.
Metroid, is that you? :O
Nah, seriously, I am pleasantly surprised.
At the start, I always wanted to comment that the game is way too railroaded, jsut one path to go basically.
thought it would end after the escape sequence.
but that is when the game jsut begins...
got the fire suit right now, will continue playing :-)
I’ll take a Metroid comparison always as a compliment jajaja
Thank you very much for your comment. This really encourages me to continue this project.
There are going to be some cutscenes in the near future. And also finish up the entire map.
some instructions would be nice , i havent a clue what to do after getting the weapon ...
Hmmm you’re right… I’d like to avoid giving “obvious” instructions on what to do, so I think that room needs a better design so the player notices easier what to do. Thanks for the feedback!
By the way… you can shoot the wall on the right in the same room you get the weapon
Save doesn't work.
Yes! sorry about that! I’m working on a solution for this. It has been kinda complicated, so maybe I’ll be adding a password system in a new version. Thank you for pointting that out. How far did you get?
Not sure, but I think 4 or 5 areas?
Oh you had had made progress… I’ll be dedicated to finish up the latter areas, more enemies, etc.
And also wanted to let you know the saving feature is working now. Thanks!
